Stainless Steel S’well Bottle Rattling Noise
If you have bought a metal bottle just for a while and hear a rattling noise in your stainless steel s’well bottle when shaking it, then you have to pay attention to two failure components “getter” and “sealant“:
- In order to retain good vacuum insulation of stainless steel bottle for years, the welding of a component part named “getter” inside the double wall vacuum space, usually on the bottom area, is needed. If the welding is poor, it will cause the small piece “getter” come off inside the double walls of stainless steel s’well bottle, resulting in a rattling noise.
- There’s a hole on the bottom where manufacturer factory usually starts to produce a vacuum insulated space between the double walls of stainless steel bottle during the production. After vacuum process, the material “sealant” is needed to seal the hole and then undergoes process of curing. When the sealant is broken, it will move freely at the base of your bottle, but you can continue to use your bottle normally and it is still completely safe.
Both of these components have their respective functions in the stainless steel bottle. A loose【getter】will not affect the insulation properties of the bottle immediately but the vacuum insulation will become poor gradually and disappear after a couple of months. Then you will feel cold or hot when touching the outer wall of the bottle and there will be condensation on the body; The broken piece of【sealant】, if not broken completely, won’t affect vacuum insulation of stainless steel insulated bottle.
If you want to check the effectiveness of vacuum insulated environment, you can fill the bottle with hot water and then touch it after a couple of minutes. If you can sense the warmth or the coldness of the body, then the insulation must go wrong.
